In an explosive revelation, producer Rico Love has come forward to expose the behind-the-scenes drama that almost prevented Usher’s hit single, ‘Yeah!’ from ever being recorded. According to Love, Usher’s label boss at the time, L.A. Reid, resorted to extreme measures to ensure the track’s success.Love, a decorated singer/songwriter himself, shared his firsthand account during a recent interview on Home Grown Radio. He reflected on his breakthrough moment when he wrote the song ‘Throwback’ for Usher’s chart-topping album ‘Confessions,’ which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.Love revealed that he was present when Usher first listened to the demo of ‘Yeah!’ written by Sean Garrett. Shockingly, Usher was not impressed and outright refused to record the track. Love admitted that he also found the song corny, as the opening lyrics made him burst into uncontrollable laughter. However, Reid, who held the powerful position of President at Arista Records at the time, saw the potential in ‘Yeah!’ and insisted that Usher release it as the lead single instead of ‘Burn,’ the original choice. Despite Usher’s resistance, Reid left him no choice, bluntly ordering him to ‘do the f***** song’ before abruptly hanging up.The bold move paid off tremendously, as ‘Yeah!’ dominated the charts for an astonishing 12 weeks and Usher’s album ‘Confessions’ became certified Diamond. Love credits Reid’s determined A&R skills for recognizing the hit potential of the song.Fans will witness the ultimate vindication this Sunday during the Super Bowl, as Usher, and possibly Lil Jon and Ludacris, take the stage to perform ‘Yeah!’ for millions worldwide.Don’t miss out on the latest updates and exclusive offers!
