Austin Butler Reveals Sting’s Generous Gesture Before Dune Premiere

Austin Butler recently shared the surreal experience of meeting Sting at the premiere of Dune: Part Two in New York City. Sting, who previously portrayed Butler’s character Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in the 1984 Dune movie directed by David Lynch, even offered to give Butler the iconic codpiece from the original film. The meeting was described as ‘surreal’ and ‘mind-blowing’ by Butler, who expressed admiration for the former Police singer/bassist. Sting’s portrayal of the villain in the original Dune movie is still remembered to this day. Although Feyd-Rautha does not appear in Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 adaptation of Dune: Part One, trailers hint at his return as a primary antagonist in the sequel. Austin Butler’s portrayal of the ruthless killer in the new movie required him to imagine the character’s backstory and motivations in a different light. The encounter between Butler and Sting added an extra layer of excitement to the Dune premiere, leaving fans eager to see what the upcoming sequel has in store.
