Giancarlo Esposito shines in Parish but the plot lacks originality | AMC review

Giancarlo Esposito steals the show in Parish with his intense performance as Gray Parish, a retired criminal turned getaway driver. The New Orleans backdrop adds a unique flair to this AMC drama but fails to elevate the cliché storyline. As Parish gets pulled back into a life of crime, viewers are taken on a familiar journey filled with shady characters and dangerous assignments. While Esposito’s portrayal of Parish is captivating, the lack of originality in the plot leaves much to be desired. With standout performances from Zackary Momoh and Ivan Mbakop adding tension to the mix, Parish falls short of breaking new ground. Despite Esposito’s impressive resume including ‘Better Call Saul’ and ‘Breaking Bad’, Parish struggles to make a lasting impact. Will this drama drive viewers to keep watching or will it fail to shift into high gear? Find out in our review of ‘Parish’ on AMC.
