Willow Smith Breaks New Ground as Published Author

Willow Smith has ventured into new territory as she has released her debut novel, Black Shield Maiden, at just 23 years old. Drawing inspiration from historical texts and anthropology, Willow weaves a captivating story that explores the lives of Yafeu from a Ghānaian empire and Freydis from a Northern Viking kingdom. This groundbreaking novel marks Willow as the first in her family to publish a work of fiction, following in the footsteps of her parents, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, who have released memoirs. During a book talk at the Strand Book Store in NYC, Willow expressed her gratitude to her parents for their cultural resources, which helped her in her research.
