This past Sunday, Church Street was filled with the sweet aroma of freshly picked flowers as over 100 people gathered to participate in the annual Build-a-Bouquet event for Mother’s Day. Participants excitedly used a punch card to show what stores they had visited, collecting flowers along the way before finally ending at Wild Lark Flowers to put it all together. Eight local businesses generously participated in the event, giving people the opportunity to explore the stores and gather various blooms free of charge to create a special hand-made gift for their moms. One of the participants, Francois Bouchett from Homeport, shared his thoughts on the event, stating, “You know it’s just a really nice thing to do for folks, you don’t have to come in and buy something, you can just come in and collect and do the thing and it’s just a nice thing for the community to show we care.”The atmosphere on Church Street was filled with joy and support for local businesses as participants bonded over their shared love for their mothers. In total, approximately 200 beautiful bouquets were carefully crafted throughout the afternoon, each one a unique expression of love and appreciation.This heartwarming event not only brought the community together but also provided a platform for local businesses to showcase their products and connect with new customers. It was a day filled with laughter, creativity, and the undeniable beauty of flowers, making it a memorable Mother’s Day celebration for all involved.As the sun began to set on Church Street, the last bouquet was lovingly arranged, symbolizing the end of a successful and meaningful day.
