In a recent interview with ‘AllHipHop,’ Russell Simmons directly addresses the rumors surrounding his relocation to Bali since 2018. Despite facing multiple allegations of rape and sexual misconduct, Simmons insists that the move does not indicate him hiding from the controversy.
The founder of Def Jam Recordings expressed his frustration with the ongoing narrative that suggests he is unable to freely return to the United States. Simmons emphasized that he is frequently present in major U.S. cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Miami, and has no reason to feel unsafe in America.
While confirming his decision to not live in New York again, Simmons clarified that he previously resided in California for nine years and currently pays non-resident state taxes. He declared, ‘I do not own any property in the United States. Since 2018, I have been residing in Bali, and I have no intentions of relocating back to New York in the future.’
The statement from Simmons comes amidst ongoing legal battles and public scrutiny surrounding the allegations made against him. Despite the controversy, he maintains his commitment to transparency and accountability in addressing the situation.
