Ridley Scott Regrets Not Directing ‘Alien’ Sequels as He Was Never Informed

Ridley Scott recently disclosed in an interview with Vanity Fair that he never received the opportunity to direct the sequels to ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ nor was he informed about their production. The renowned director expressed his regret over missing out on these projects, citing that the lack of communication regarding their development left him feeling neglected. Despite his desire to helm these sequels, Scott believes that his emergence in the industry may have played a role in him being overlooked for these coveted films. ‘I was never told or asked about them,’ Scott revealed. ‘You can imagine I wasn’t happy.’According to Scott, his reluctance to undertake such sequels early in his career led to other filmmakers stepping in to continue the franchise, with James Cameron and David Fincher taking the reins on ‘Alien.’ The director admitted that he should have seized the opportunity to direct the follow-ups to ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ acknowledging that his perspective changed over the years.
