Residents of Virginia Beach will experience intermittent closures along the Oceanfront Boardwalk for the filming of a musical biopic about Pharrell Williams. The closures will take place between 14th to 16th Street on Tuesday, June 25, between 6 a.m. to midnight, in association with a Special Event and Film Office permit. The city confirmed the closure is for the production of Pharrell Williams’ biopic, informally titled ‘Atlantis.’ Set builder Chris Damon, a Virginia Beach native, expressed his excitement about the project and the cooperation of the weather. Photos from the Boardwalk show crews working to offload items for the set. Areas of the beach and on-street parking will also be closed, while the bike path will remain open. Stay tuned for updates on the filming schedule in Virginia Beach.
