Parachute Restaurant Announces Hiatus for Concept Transformation in Chicago

Parachute, the critically acclaimed restaurant owned by Johnny Clark and Beverly Kim in Chicago, is set to take a hiatus at the end of the month. The owners announced their plans to undergo a concept transformation while looking for a larger location in the Loop. This decision comes as a surprise to many, especially since the restaurant is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Johnny Clark and Beverly Kim expressed their gratitude to the community and their loyal customers for their support over the years. They mentioned that it’s time to bring fresh ideas to the table and evolve as a restaurant. The owners are excited about the future and are confident that they will bring something new and exciting under the Parachute umbrella in the near future.

Parachute, known for its Korean American cuisine, first opened its doors in May 2014. Despite facing challenges during the pandemic, the restaurant bounced back in 2022 with full indoor dining services. Clark and Kim’s hard work and dedication were recognized when they received a James Beard Award for best chefs Great Lakes in 2019. Additionally, Parachute had previously been awarded a one Michelin Star rating.

Reservations for Parachute can still be made via OpenTable until March 23. Stay tuned for updates on the restaurant’s next chapter as it undergoes this exciting transformation.
